kids halloween party ideas

Forget about dancing skeletons and creepy vampires, throw a halloween party that is fun, fresh and modern. Here you'll find a collection of stylish Halloween parties to provide you with some party inspiration.  In addition we have concluded with a party checklist as well as this free party planner to help you stay organised.

There’s nothing scary about this Ghosts & The Galaxy Halloween party by Paper Playground and Something White Events.  The gentle inclusion of ghosts and bats throughout the food is cute and friendly while you sit back and gaze at the wonders of the night; or in this case galaxy. With lots of pale pink, silver and fresh crisp white, this Halloween party sparks the imagination as kids dream, wonder and play.

These stylists took the celestial elements and themed their party with crystal embellished cakes, moons and stars, and cute witches in starry capes and hats.

Ting Ghoul Gang Party

This sweet halloween party mixes black, white and rose gold, creating a not so spooky halloween party theme. We love the clean white setting allowing the carefully selected Halloween details to say it all. An overflowing cauldron, painted pumpkins and bats scattered throughout lets the kids celebrate and join in the Halloween fun.

When you own a party boutique it's the perfect excuse to throw your mini babes and her friends a pretty little Halloween party!! This festive enthusiasm from Tara Swanson, owner of Parties Made Pretty is captured in a 'Creep it Real' Halloween themed party.

Tara used a pink palette to keep the feeling light for the young age group and featured elements to remind us that it is infact a Halloween party! The kids could enjoy all the fun and joy of dressing up and indulge in treats.

The subtle styling of pumpkins and skeletons ensured it wasn't a birthday party, but a special event celebrated internationally. The use of a balloon garland under the table not only highlighted the colour scheme but helped to frame the sweets table. Tara's little girl had the best time celebrating with her friends!

We just love the black and white simplicity of Melissa's table for Halloween. Best Friends For Frosting have demonstrated how easily you can pop together a classic Halloween colour scheme, a few statement decorations, and deliciously themed desserts that gather the kids together at Halloween.

When you're a busy mum and expecting the kids to be running about high on sugar from their trick or treat, this party idea will enable you to enjoy the festivities of Halloween, create memories for your kids and celebrate together.

Take a look at this intricately decorated Halloween party by Stylish Soirees Perth. Guest or host, child or adult, Stylish Soirees Perth kept it light and pretty!

Ali transformed a vineyard into a breathtaking Halloween stage any kid would enjoy, calling it 'A Rustic Halloween'.  But if the adults are planning to lash out as their favourite villain then you can't go past the Maleficent inspired Dinner Party!

Styled by Lenzo, this whimsical Halloween party was their idea of a "dream-like version of the usually scary + dark holiday." Together with an amazing team this party captured every aspect of Halloween every princess wants to experience!

They covered off our checklist and more with a beautiful tablescape incorporating ornamental white pumpkins and ghost chairs. The dessert table was oozing a sweet touch of spooky with cobwebs, eyeballs and ghost cookies in pastel colours.

A playdough table and dressup costumes were provided for the kids to engage their imaginations and have alot of fun!

This black, silver and white themed Halloween party was styled by Illume Partyware using our own partyware, treats and a few balloons for the kids to enjoy.

We love how every celebration doesn't have to be an overly lavish affair for friends and family to get together. A table is transformed in minutes with matching partyware and a few carefully chosen party themed elements.

Our ghostly cookies and spider cake added a touch of Halloween which was further accentuated with splashes of black throughout the partyware.  The white and silver kept the party light and joyful for the age group and when the kids are enjoying themselves you know it's a winner!

We love this black and white 'Spooky' party from Hipster Mum. Described in her interview with 100 Layer Cake-Let as "an Australian take on Fright Night" this aussie mum swapped pumpkins for pineapples and added a healthy touch of popcorn to Halloween.

Kids came dressed in black and white adding a dramatic affect to the whole party while the Mylar letter balloon backdrop and the orange and pink accents kept a light feel overall.

Here's a checklist of things you will need to organise for your party;

1. Prepare Invitations:
Use your colour palette and theme to guide your invitation creation. Set the time, date and add any details about what to wear and bring. Send these out 3 weeks prior to the party.

2. Halloween Costume:
Getting into a costume and dressing up is so much fun for both adults and kids, even the pets can join in. Dress as your favourite superhero, celebrity or character.

3. Party Decorations:
Decorate your home with hand made and pre-bought halloween decorations to bring your party to life. You could have a crafting day with the kids a few days before to make and assemble your decorations.

4. Lollies and Treats Table:
Put together a dessert table of lollies and treats. Include some healthy treats so your little guests don't get high on sugar. Get creative and use a cookie cutter to cut sandwiches into spooky shapes.

5. Halloween Party Games:
Organise some party games to keep your guests entertained, some games you could play are:

  • Pin the Boo on the Ghost: Paint a large ghost onto cardboard, and cut out some cardboard 'Boo' signs for each child. Place blu tack on the back of each Boo, each child takes it in turns to pin (or stick) the boo as close to the ghosts mouth, whilst blindfolded. The child thats pins the boo closest to the point wins.
  • Eating challenge: Blind fold your guests and feed them food that feels strange or has an unusual texture. Ask your guest to guess what they are eating before you reveal it. Try giving them baby food, jelly, olives and grapes.
  • Pinata: Fill a pumpkin or ghost shaped pinata with treats and lollies. Give each child a turn to hit the pinata 2-3 times until the pinata is broken.
